Hi fellow stingray keepers,

I'm new to keeping stingrays. So I need some advice. My stingy is constantly swimming up the tank wall to the surface the past couple of days. The water is crispy clean. This is a new behaviour. He does swim up the wall a few times a day but he has been at it continuously yesterday. Should I be concerned? Any idea why it's behaving like this?

I would appreciate your help.

Also I'm struggling to figure out the his type (motoro, hp, pearl etc.) Can some one help me please:016:

Thanks

Looks like a Motoro bro
It is normal behavior for rays to swim up the tank walls.

Just keep an eye on his belly to make sure he is not getting aggravated by the substrate.

Hey Bros,

Thanks for the feedback. He is still acting the same. However I removed all the sand and pebbles and made the tank bare bottom. Stingy doesn't seem to like it that much as he like to hide in the sand but the tank is much cleaner. So I guess he will have to live with it.

I also went back to the pet shop and got them to check his type. They confirmed that he is motoro. Thanks monolicious for confirming. He swims around at night close to the surface and then pounces on a feeder fish. Awsome to see him hunt.

Any ways he is growing fast.

I'll keep you updated.
Cheers!

Hey bros,

new development. Stingray floating on the surface. The head (eyes/gills) are out of the water. Just floating. Is this normal or should I be alarmed? Help....
