K let the ball start with me:
For me i will top up water in sump for every 2 days to my sump level. Bec it dry up quite fast due to head from power head. Every week (7days) i will change my water, i will first stop my power supplier, than change water from sump - Last compartment where the power head are. Suck empty and full in tap water to the level than start the power head. Oh but before switching on the power head i will add in some anti chlorine and some aquarium salt.
This is waht i normally do for the week.
* For me i dont change water from main tank bec i am using sump tank so all oil surface and nitrate and ammonia all in sump le. This is for sump set up only EASY EASY

for me easy maintenance :
1. change water every week 80% with aged water
2. clean the top filter cotton once a week.
3. suck the waste every week
4. clean the canister filters every 3 months.
5. pH around 7
6. put the zeolit, bioball, cotton in the canister filters.
that's it...
never used sump filter before.

I like this method cause very close to my current setup (canister). However, never tried 80%. Will try tomorrow morning to see how. Btw, did you measure your aged water ph? This is because my aged water ph was 5 when I measured just now. Is it ok then to change 80% (now the tank ph is 6)?

Every week, I will change about 20% of the tank water.
First, off the power head and I will suck water out from the main tank follow by the last compartment of the sump tank. Wash the filter wool or replace new set.
Thereafter, top up tap water directly into the last compartment of the sump and add anti-chlorine + salt etc. On the power head and water will be filled until the whole filteration cycle start running.

wah, all u people method very good one. think mine is one the lousiest and the laziest WC in ID.
do water change once or sometimes twice a month. 20-30% WC. already being doing this for the couple of months, so far my aro and the tankmates doing fine, eating well. also sometimes check water parameter also ok.
