Woke up early this morning to find my 14" leichardti floating upside down in bottom of the tank. The other fish are fine. Tried to float him but it was unresponsive after 1/2 an hour it stopped breathing. Bagged and tagged in the freezer now. It was 1 year old.
Did a chemical check of the water and everything registers fine.
He had some physical damage to rear quarter on right hand side of the body. It was very bruised and bleeding, as if a suspect t RTG took a bight at him from above.

Just goes to show, that you can do everything right in fish keeping and still have accidents happen which are beyond your control.

Update, my friend who is a vet come over my place for dinner last night and to have a look at the arowanas. I showed him the leichardti, and he said the bruising / laceration was not caused by another fish, but by the fish being next to the filter inlet when it was upside down for a certain period of time. I gave him a history of the tank and told him my maintenance schedule. His thoughts is that the fish was poisoned by an unknown and cannot tell without an autopsy. He said he will take the fish and do one for me as he likes this type of thing.
The only thing I didn't do on my last water change was add geo liquid which I am told is good at removing unwanted chemicals from the tank. In my area they also started adding delsalinated water to the tap water supply. He told me in the mean time to double dose the prime water conditioner as our tap water has fluctuating chloromine levels that can exceed what prime can remove in normal dosage, and once off geo liquid the whole tank water supply and make sure I use it at every water change the recommended dosage.

I showed him my green arowana in the isolation tank with the the parasites, and he told me it was not that bad, and DO NOT to add any product to remove parasites that are available from any lfs or petstore. They are fine for goldfish and such but saratogas / arowanas are very sensitive and do not like chemical medications. My best bet was to use the internet and find out what the guys over in Asia use and follow their advice. I told him i know what they use, but I cannot get any as I couldn't find any online store that sells it. He said he will investigate that for me too. I now wait for his findings.

Another update. Results are back in and are inconclusive.
No chemical poisoning.
Bruising on body was consistant with being sucked by the fliter inlet.
No internal or external parasite.
No oxygen depletion issue.
No bacterial issues
No fungal issues.
No starvation issues.
No internal organ issues.

Only thing he could think of is another fish hassled it out during the evening and caused it non recoverable stress. This fish was a bit skittish, but the other tank mates are far as I could see didn't really do any major fighting. It lived in community with 3 other aros for a year with no issues.

Problem has now arrised in the tank where one aro has claimed dominance and the other aros had to be be removed. Moving 3 arowanas around into their own tanks has been a pain.

Green arowana appears to be on the mend after 5 days dose of Seachem Paraguard.
I have been able to track down some Ocean ''0'' for future medication.
