Hi everybody,

I have a few questions regarding how to keep freshwater stingrays:

1.I'm planning to buy 25 rays of 10-12 cm diameter size and I'm planning to keep them in 2 tanks of 120cm X 50 cm X 50cm, do you think the space would be enough? Actually I have another tank of 200cm X 70cm X 70cm that already contains 9 super reds of 15-18cm (used to be 11, 2 died ;(), 3 parrots and 3 caviats but I'm afraid it would cause some stress to my super reds by releasing some new rays to the tank. Please help me to distribute them as i don't know how many rays can a 120cmX50cmX50cm contain.

2.Is it true that freshwater stingrays are very sensitive to the water quality? If yes, how frequent should I change the water and what other water parameters should I keep in mind?

3. How frequent and what do we have to feed them with?

Thanks

25 rays in 120 * 50 *50 ?? Plan keeping in this tank until when ? As my opinion is too small .

Rays are very sensitive to water, especially first intro into your tank, much be careful about the fluctuation of PH and also temperature !!
When taking home, first put the bag where rays contain about 15 minit, for adjustion in temperature, then taking the bag from the tank and put at floor, open the unlock the plastic bag and put inside together with plastic bag into bucket, use a air tube to let the tank water go inside the plastic bag slowly, air tube end point can put a valve purpose for the water go slowly into plastic bag, this cycle continue about half an hour (or until the plastic bag fully with water), pour the plastic bag water again to tank, and then repeat the cycle again. My experience, last time I took about 2 and more hours.

One weeks once i think better, this my rules, no matter is rays or aro or other fishes, for ensure the well quality of water.

My rays one days twice feeding, with market prawn, just cut to small pieces.

Hope will help.

after so many rays died on my hand :) , wheter big ones ,small pups and even near adult ones :), i found that the most important way to keep rays is very very good water conditions, been told by my rays breeder to follow his way of rays keeping that is change water twice a day :), i'm a bit lazy man so i narrow down to once a day water change / shifoning the waste or left over food.the water change is after big meal :),

wow u nubie keep rays sekali keep 25 pcs ... very tok kong , u plan to keep them until big ? or half way give up? if tend to keep them until big and become mama and papa... u better start planning for the tank for the future :)25 rays gonna need lots of space :)

Firstly, thx for all the replies :). The reason I bought 25 of them is due to the minimum order required by the breeder so they can be delivered right to my place as I live in a small city named Bandung which is 3-hours drive away from the breeder's place. I'm afraid they would die on the journey if I were to pick them up by myself. And I also want to sell some of them.

So, they finally came yesterday (pics attached). I have 2 types of them:
15 of Marble Motoro and 10 Motoro

Let me know if anyone of you interested
