salt not really necessary when keeping rays... keep with change to 20 to 30% to prevent sudden casualties...

rays look hardy, which in actually its one of the most sensitive fresh water fish to keep. peop have mentioned that aro keeping is much more easy to mentain then rays.
they are sensitve to pH, hugh and sudden changes in pH, will almost garranty disc curl and death of rays. my suggestion is to add huge amound of carol chips to maintain the pH. change no more then 20% of tank water during each WC
high level of ammonia is another killer of rays. advise is to get gd filter medium which cultivate beneficial bacteria to counter this prob.
always acclimilate the rays before putting it into your tank. even transfer of the ray from 1 tank to another in your hse, pls do so too.
always read up b4 buying rays to keep as pets. they are not hardy at all.
thanks

best pH for rays is about 6.5. but they can tolerate pH of up to about 7.5. my ph is about 7.3 and they are eating like pigs.

spotted rays as in motoro rays? these are gd for start up, before u venture into more expensive rays, always have pH and ammonia tester on hand. test the water b4 and after WC, but personally i dun do that:tounge_smile: just make sure that your filter medium is well caltivated and dun overstocked your tank, add carol chips inside and removed all unwanted food.
lasty, all rays are like pigs, they can nev resist live feeder, shrimps, torsats and gf. if your ray is not hunting, something is wrong, go test your water
