Is ur thermometer far away from ur heater?...The water surrounding the heater naturally is slightly warmer and if ur thermometer is nearer to the outflow of the water it will be slightly cooler bcos of the heat loss after the water circulation through ur filter... ... i may be wrong.

yah but mine is a 2ft tank so i think not much difff and the thermometer is near the heater and beside the heater theres a airstone and the outlet for the ohf is also heater to circulate the warm water so i also dunno how heehee
