For me i will do 20% water change weekly direct from tap water and at the same time i have to add anti chlorine and salt to main tank. I am using a sump system so i change water from sump tank. Reason for changing water from sump tank, bec all the ammonia and nitrate all there, just need to wash the white cotton and water change at the last compartment*ammonia all at the last compartment.
This may not be the best method....just to share with brosss here....

I use small tube to suck out the waste and left over particles everyday. So its only about half pail of water thrown away and just replace it by tap water without any anti-chlorine cos the percentage is very low. 30% of water change direct from tap with some salt added and anti-chlorine in about a month including washing of filters and sponge cleaning of the whole tank. Its better to use aged water but i m lazy...
