For me this is just a "myth" told by some xback breeder
A mature RTG will have such pearlies as well. You can see those what so called "pearl" on my RTG tail.

beside if the RTG or xback grew to that big size already, we no need see the pearlies to determine it was xback or RTG.
maybe the 'pearlies stuff' is for determine xback or not at size around 20 CM or smaller

Bro who told you this is a myth?
Ask any reputable breeder they will tell you. If you think your matured RTG will have these so called "pearl" like xb then u are very wrong!!!
1) When ppl refer to pearlies, this means upper dorsel fin area (5th level) got shinny pearlies. Sorry I don't see that in your mature RTG.
2) Some quality high back may have little pearls at upper dorsel fins when mature but the shine and gold color is very different from xb.
3) RTG or high back will never fully cross like xb unless other breed like TY etc.
Bro sorry if you don't know about xb, please don't confuss other bros here. Hope this helps!
