Chilli Red Vs. Blood Red

Can anybody tell the differences between two of them when they are young (less than 8 in)?
And which one you guys prefer to have?

Personally, I dun think there's such thing called pure breed n so-called chilli red or blood red. Nowadays all are mixed into a pond and breed. So whoever is still selling these so-called chillired or bloodred is bullsh1t.

If you wanna say further, blood red should have a big fan tail with broader body look and rounder head. Chilli red should have smaller head with a nice slope which ppl called spoonhead plus a diamond shaped tail. But nowadays what did you see in those so-called bloodred and chillired?

That's according to what was been decided by ppl from the past that BR does not have a spoonhead and with a broader body. Or was it BR is considered bigger than a CR?

Anyway, if we are to follow as what they have "passed down" to us. We dun get to see these trade marks on those so-called BR anymore.

CR's is broader and bigger if compared to BR.

here in Indonesia. we call it all super red !

chilli or blood red can tell when they grow bigger and colors come out already.

chilli red has a thin frame color and blood red has a thick frame color.
but usual chilli red is slightly redder but not 100%

As far as i know, basically they are only classified as " Red Arowana " or " Super Red " as its widely called by asians and originally found in Indonesia. Whether it is Blood or Chilli Red, its only a name given by breeders. To say Chilli Red is redder or Blood Red is redder it depends on each individual fish colour quality. Likewise, not all Malaysian Golden are of same gold colour. Well, if we are breeders we can name them " Marlboro Red " or " Winston Red " rite?...:tounge_smile:

BR darker red , fan /shell tail, rounder head,more towards blue base/silver, smaller eyes

CR bright red chili red, diamond / rabbit ears tail, mouse head, stronger green base, bigger eyes.
