Would like to find out what kind of diseases do you think feeders or any other food source can transfer to your aros.

For feeders , with the exception of protruding anus, they could transfer all others listed .

Safest bet will be crickets, worms and market prawn . Although food sources with hard shell (keratin) such as meal worms / superworms have reported caused protruding anus (PA), but i have been feeding my aros for a long times with SW, and no PA yet . Lucky I guess :011:

Yes protruding anus has been link to food source which are too hard.

I guess the best is always feed the correct size or type of food.

or introduce certain type of food source slowly so that the aro gets a custom to the type of food and also to feed moderately.

it is said that it would be better to feed an aro 70% full or even feed the aro a little at a time between intervals of 4hrs. but not everyone has the luxury of doing so :)

It's all depend on if the feeder's SBP was caused by baterial/parasistic infection . There are many causes for SBP . Feeders don't automatically give your aro SBP . Only if the feeders you were feeding your aro with were infected with bateria/parasite, then there is a high chance for the aro to get SBP, because bacterial/parasistic infection is a major cause of SBP ! There are other causes for SBP, but they are only minor ones , nothing compare to bacterial/parasistic infection.

Since feeders are usually raised in crowded tank, with very poor water conditions/ temp, stresses, etc .... making them very susceptible to get an infection and pass it on to their tankmates . However, there are some benefits such as: a complete source of all essential vitamins and calcium for healthy growth . Aros do love them, because feeders give aros what they crave most, and that's to be able to HUNT . It's part of aros' instincts to hunt for food, instead of having their foods drop right in front of their mouths all the times :011: , so if feeders are properly quarantined, they should not be completly excluded out of your aros' menu . They should not be used as main source of food, but occasionally be used as treat ,perhaps once every 1-2 week(s) and watch your aros come alive . :011:
