Very beautiful arowana with extremely fine pearlies, full crossing, greenish tone and redish shine on the cheeks and scale rims. Indeed this is a very pretty arowana, but unfortunately, this is not a true and pure bred Malaysian Golden. Despite caught in the wild rivers does not neccessarily qualify it to be pure bred MG genetically. This aro looks more a hybrid or Tong Yan (TY), a cross breed between a green arowana and a Super Red. There isn't much pure bred MG left in the wild these days. Most of the wild caught arowanas are crossed bred. They are the offsprings from those disowned retarded, maimed TY, Super Reds thrown or released into the local rivers that cross-bred with the wild MG or Green Arowana.

A true and pure bred MG looks very differently from this fish. The head is rounded bulet head, the tail and finnages are smaller. It has a very dark blue based color on the back and the gold shine is more yellowish and intense. It doesn't have the red tone. In fact, it looks more like the Blue Based High Back. The 6th level hardly crosses full and it takes at least 5 to 10 years to cross if it were to cross. The pearlies is also not that fine. Only XBs with TY or Super Red gene can achieve that type of super fine pearlies and early 6th level crosses at young age.

If u ask me which I prefer? For beauty, I would prefer the above fish than the original pure bred MG.
