In short term usage, YES it will out-perform some Eheim models but for sure it will be out-performed by Eheim in long run.

Usually China and Taiwan product beat interm of pricing but quality not so ! As usual pay certain price to get certain quaility.:teeth_smile: that is why even 2nd hand eheim still can fetch some price.

Totally Agreed... I started off with a Astro Cannister Filter and it lasted less than a year. Then I replaced with a Eheim Pro 2 2026 and subsequently upgraded to Eheim Pro 3 2080 and it running till now. The 2026 is now kept in store as a backup or will dispose to any buyer if the offer is reasonable...

Conclusion... Spend more on initial setup and that will assure a safer and healthier journey for your precious Aro...

We should'nt be comparing Taiwan/China brand aquarium equipments with Eheim in terms of quality bcos they are known to produce cheaper products for our budgets not that they can't produce good quality ones. Too bad this issue is brought up. Discrimination.

I don't think the question is misleading. The answer is simply NO. Then comes the reasons, like you said made in China/Taiwan products are made for budget conscious consumers. The materials are different, the R&D budgets are different, the manufacturing are different, the target markets are different, etc. Therefore, cannot be compared in quality.

You are also right in saying that it doesn't mean that China/Taiwan cannot make the same quality as Eheim. I've seen many good quality Chinese/Taiwanese products. However, the question didn't lead to that. So no, it's not discrimination. I must say though many of the responses didn't stick to the question of quality that lead to confusions if you don't read properly.

The question can also be "Can Eheim makes cheap products as China/Taiwan?" Is this discrimination?

I also would like to point out that many Chinese products simply copy Eheim. How much R&D Eheim has put in creating their products?

Answer to TS question is NO... so far have not come across any China/Taiwan product better than Eheim. But doesn't mean have to use only Eheim products all the time. I use both Eheim and other pumps for my tanks.... Eheim is still the best but I also find Shanda's pump acceptable i.e. pump rate does not deteriorate as much over time compare to some other brands....

They can but they choose not too as their main market is low-medium price market...

For example, the best computer motherboard, in any budget, come from Taiwan and most of it produce in China... Yes, I know computer parts and aquarium equipment is different product... :D

They are more than capable if they want to... and it will be cheaper for sure, as the cost will be way lower in there compare to in Europe...

There is no way any China/Taiwan pump will compete with Eheim at present. Eheim lasts for years not months. I like these low cost pumps for when i change my water, and even then i wonder if they can pump 1 bucket without any problems.
